I don't know where to post this so I'm posting it here. If the "marshall" wishes, he may change the site.

These are supposedly our leaders? Can we expect more of this in the months? years? to come if the Democrats maintain their majority???

No, those are not "leaders" in shape nor substance. But maybe, just maybe, these are:

Michelle Malkin feeding in reports on the ongoing GOP revolt:

I also have read comments by just ordinary people like us asking President Bush to order an emergency session of Congress. Let's see what happens. Other bloggers have been sending e-mail to the media to have them cover this story. CNN is not in anyone's good graces right now because it shut down C-Span

sorry, too quick on the send button.
If the Dems say they aren't worried (hmmm), why not call for a vote?

Thanks for redirecting the comment. I posted it before your open thread showed up.

"why not call for a vote?"

What are you, some sort of idealist? ((big grin))

When the majority party holds the agenda, but thinks there is even a *chance* that defections will let the measure pass against their plans...

...if it was your party, would *you* call a vote?

Of course I wouldn't. I'd wait which is what the Dems are doing until the ban on drilling expires in Sept. '08--- meanwhile all the protectionist groups will continue to donate to the party. Yeah, I know, I 'm nuts to want to buy time with drilling right now to give us time to develop alternative energies (they aren't around the bend, and I can't afford $40 thou for a hybrid).

Anyway, in case anyone's interested: Here's a link so you can watch what's happening in the House, since C-Span has been shut down. Got it from a friend.

Here's a video link to what's going on since all the official media outlets have been shut down.

There's also a headline that's following the story on Drudge Report.

Well, looks like the GOP "rebels" have taken the better part of valor for the weekend. Be interesting to see if they resume as soon as the legally can reopen the gallery on Monday morning...

I have been away from the news the last couple days-- I need to catch up here!

I haven't seen anything about Pelosi on the news here this evening--

LDG...and maybe Others...I have a military question. Is there a place that will let me search for soldiers listed as missing? Does the gov't keep a public list? Long story, short version, hearsay has scattered around this small town and family members (friends of ours) were concerned. Thanks in advance for any help.

L.Douglas Garrett said...

@Patty

The government keeps lists, but sorts them by historical conflict... WWII, Korea, Viet Nam...

If you are looking for *current* conflict listings, that is not freely reported. There is no way the DoD would run out anything in public until after advising the family members as to known status, btw.

...so why don't you tell me more about who wants to know? 'cause if it is family, they'll know first.

followup for Patty

I took a quick look to see what came in from MNF-I (that's in Iraq) and ISAF / CJTF (those are in Afghanistan)... none have any recent U.S. *combat* fatalities or missings. MNF-I had two non-combat fatals in the last few days; non-combat missings (AWOLs) wouldn't be posted.

If it happened in less than the last 24 hours, it wouldn't be out there to be seen yet.

Yes, it is current. She is in Iraq. She's the niece of someone I work with, his wife's niece. He's not sure which branch of service though, will know later today. As far as "next of kin" thing. The kids were removed from their parents years ago and there has been little contact. Some of the kids have not been able to find their siblings once they were all adopted out. Someone told them this weekend that they heard on the news that "J (joy) Farley" was missing in Iraq. They searched all the obvious news sources and didnt find anything. They are guessing it's just a vile rumor, but the unknown is eating at them. So they asked if I could help.

Responding to Patty's request: I don't how complete this is, but it appears to have some amount of details for casualties in Iraq.

I know there's other ones out there; I followed one while my cousin was over there, but I can't find the link for it now.

Thank you LDG and Sean. I've forwarded all the info. We'll see what they come up with.
