I tried to re-post Scott's URLs as links to open in new windows, but the first one is bad.

according to Newsday:

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez made a surprise visit to Cuba late Saturday and wasted little time heading into a closed-door meeting with President Raul Castro and his ailing brother Fidel.

I wonder what gives with this surprise visit? Is Fidel on his way out the door to hell?

voting Sunday in Ecuador? referendum?

Correa wants to rewrite the constitution? (this new constitution will take away the power of Congress and the army)

And he can run for office twice more with the new constitution-

Sounds like Chavez~

Everybody eventually dies. Communists are institutional, if not practical atheists. When Fidel dies, he'll just be worm food -- his political philosopny prevents him from having eternal life, regardless of ultimate destination.

I suppose we could get into a debate over existential (not to be confused with Existential[ism]) spirituality and the concept of a soul. I'm sure you'd like to think that Fidel has a soul (that will go where ever the judge of the afterlife of your particular belief system chooses to send it). Were he a Muslim, a Jew, a Buddhist, or a Hindu, I bet your opinion of his afterlife would be at least colored by his beliefs. His religious equivalent belief system precludes the existence of a soul. No heaven, no hell, no celestial virgins, no enlightenment, no reincarnation, no nothing. Dead. Buried. End of line.

Well-- here is what this meeting was about-

Chavez's words- We met for three hours in the presence of Russian Vice President Igor Sechin and ministers from the two countries. It was a splendid conversation.

I would say, regarding previous meetings, all of which were extraordinary, that this is the best that I, personally, have had for a long time, not only with a prime minister like Putin, but with a great friend.

Every day we feel closer friends and we are more identified, together in the resolution to carry out, along with President Dmitri Medvedev, the Russian and Venezuelan peoples, our ideas for the comprehensive development of our countries, the freedom of peace.

Chavez claims Fidel is stronger than Hurricane Ike-- so much for me wanting Fidel in hell.

Really enjoyed the links you posted on September 26th.
Me thinks there is a hidden message behind his slogan "Change"!!
Wonder if he wants to take away our fishing poles too!! Guess we will have to take our "catch" to IRS so we can be taxed.
Isn't there some kind of saying regarding "Man with forked tongue . . . . . .
