Yep... obliged elsewhere again. Fear not, I'll be back to this soon.
For now, I'll leave you all with this thread left open for comments if you have any topics you'd like discussed, or suggestions as to things to look into in more detail here. The usual rules still apply: Play Nice.
Thanks to All for coming here and checking on me.

I notice Chavez devalued his currency, and is threatening merchants who raise prices.
He seems to want to travel Mugabe's road here, and I can't imagine why he thinks that's a good idea.
I weep for Venezuela.
Will,
Mugabe's road has been incredibly beneficial... for Mugabe. If you want to stay in power for life, modern liberal democracy will simply not work for you. The successful formula is to claim democracy, and then lie, cheat, steal, and do whatever (and I do mean "whatever") is needed to assure that one continues to be "elected".
Hugo Chavez is simply following the road maps prepared by the likes of Fidel Castro, Robert Mugabe, Muammar Khadafi, et al. And why shouldn't he? It works. He has absolutely no guiding principles whatsoever, other than to stay in power forever.
@Roy,
That's blindingly obvious now that you say it. I must have a serious cynicism deficiency this week.
Better go top off the tank...
"Proof of life" -- that is hilarious! I'm going to steal that line. It's so much better than a blogger's apology for not posting - boring.
@All
It's great to come back and find you folks at things here. Thank you!
I've a couple last things to get caught up on, and then I can be back to doing CompHyp.
oh, and p.s. to La Gringa...
"I'm going to steal that line."
...yours for the taking. Here's hoping you never have need for it, though.
Will,
After having lived in Tanzania, Haiti, and now Venezuela, as well as many other social, economic, and political basket cases in the world, I have enough cynicism to share. Feel free to take as much as you need... :)
