Therein lies the problem. Part of me doesn't want to forgive, but my entire upbringing and worldview urge me to do so. The idea of cloaking something in religion for political or ideological gain (or simply to cover hatred and disdain) is abhorrent to me. We should strive to unmask that and separate it from the religion, but they seem to be so intertwined that I fear this will be difficult to do.
